How often have we complained that our life is difficult? How often have we prayed for a miracle to alleviate our suffering? Do miracles still happen? I believe they do. I met one such living miracle, a wonderful, fearless soul, a survivor and a fighter on one of the social media platforms whose story not just awakens my spirit, but also inspires me never to give up; no matter what is going on!

Building mental strength is no different than building your physiucal strength. A little cardio, a few pushups or jogging for a mile or two helps build your physical strength. Similar adapting the strategies given here would do the same to build your mental strength. In both cases, consistency is the key!

Childhood trauma: Why trauma informed care matters?

Life is not always a bed of roses. Bad things happen as a child grows up. Parents separate or divorce. Children get bullied in school. Chronic illness. Death in the family. Natural disasters like the earthquakes, tsunami or even the pandemic. Some traumas destroy a home. Others destroy their sense of safety and well-being for instance; racial violence, community shootings or even substance abuse in the family.

How my family battled with my father’s Alzheimer’s

If there is one thing that I regret to this present day; it was my failure to recognize the signs of early Alzheimer’s. It wasn’t until, one morning he took my brother’s 10-year-old son to the market and came back without him that I began to put the pieces together.
As anyone with a loved one with Alzheimer’s will have experienced, Alzheimer’s affects not just an individual but the entire family as well. For with the diagnosis come the novel challenges of dealing with progressive memory loss, changes in the personality and the huge, sometimes dramatic changes in the family dynamics.
